Additional ingredients:

  • 1 lime
  • Prawn crackers

Directions:

  1. If you prefer beef, you can use it instead of chicken. However, with beef you must cook longer because it takes time for this meat to become tender. Bring chicken to a boil, set the broth aside.
  2. Boil rice water in a large pot.
  3. Saute ground spices until the aroma comes out. And then add this mixture into the large pot. Wait for 5 minutes and pour the chicken broth.
  4. As the broth is boiling, add the ground peanuts and chicken. Bring it to a simmer. It’s better to cook it over low heat to avoid evaporation. Add lemon grass, lime leaves, and bay leaves. They strengthen the aroma. These spices are very common for cooking Indonesian dishes. If you like Indonesian cuisine so much, these ingredients should always be in the fridge.
  5. Stir occasionally until the chicken is well-done. Check out the texture to find out. It probably takes less than an hour because chicken is easy to cook. The last one to add is fried onions.
